1 Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls came and talked with me, saying to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of the great harlot who sits on many waters, 2 with whom the kings of the earth committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth were made drunk with the wine of her fornication.” 3 So he carried me away in the Spirit into the wilderness. And I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast which was full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. 4 The woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the filthiness of her fornication. 5 And on her forehead a name was written: MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH 6 I saw the woman, drunk with the blood of the saints and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus. And when I saw her, I marveled with great amazement.
The New Trademark
“Don’t smoke, take dope or watch Bob Hope.”
This used to be a saying among some Christians in our parents’ time. Today, the motion picture industry produces powerfully seductive entertainment that is not only a big part of how everyone spends their discretionary time, but also provides the raw material for our worldview. Every screen that you own can now access a vast variety of entertainment products, but at a price for Christians that is far beyond the monthly subscription fees.
Even if you have avoided the movies with sex acts or outright Satanism [which is a pretty large percentage of what’s available], you still have what appears to be the motion picture industry requirement that every film blaspheme the name of Jesus at least once. It is like a seal or a trademark upon a Hollywood product. Both PG-13 and PG-14 movies frequently misuse the name of Christ or of God, and it is [or should be] a show stopper for one who claims to revere Jesus Christ [Philippians 2.4-11].
This is because the motion picture industry, via movies and television, covertly represents a religion. It is a religion that rejects and blasphemes the Father and Jesus Christ. It is for this reason that the religious trademark of every entertainment product is blasphemy.
The religion of Hollywood is also reflected in its desecration of the human institutions that God established for the orderly function of civilization. Marriage [Gen 2.20-25; Mt 19.3-9] and the family [Gen 4.1; 10.20] are the basis of both the state [Rom 13.1-5] and society, which are no stronger than the moral character of the families that comprise them. The motion picture industry corrupts marriage by its commitment to gender confusion, divorce, promiscuity or by simply ignoring the institution altogether. When marriage falls, the family must follow. Eventually civilization collapses due to a combination of institutional rot and divine judgment [Ps 9.17; Isa 5.14 etc.]. Modern society is now compromised from cradle to grave with the highest quality of religious propaganda passed off as secular entertainment. The entertainment industry has helped to incubate and give birth to a secularized evangelicalism that is Christian only in its profession; willing to take a stand for country and culture but not for the whole counsel of the biblical Christ [Mt 28.20a].
The Prophetic Concepts
Thinking about this took me back to my writings on biblical prophecy and specifically, the concept of Mystery Babylon. This concept was more than adequate to explain what I was seeing, or not seeing at the movies, and increasingly, on television as well [the first version of this blog was written before Lucifer received his own TV series]. I will need to briefly introduce three interrelated concepts: the Antichrist [2 Thessalonians 2.3-4], who will be, according to the bible, the end time ruler of most of the world; the Mystery of Iniquity and Mystery Babylon [Rev 17 above].
In order to understand the agenda of the Antichrist, it must be realized that he has no intention of building his New World Order atop the existing institutional structure. His intention is to raze this world of its God-given institutions [Dan 7.25 “to change times and laws”] and values before implementing a new order. This plan is called the Mystery of Iniquity or Lawlessness.
The Mystery of Iniquity is the ancient and prehistoric conspiracy to depose God and enthrone Lucifer as lord of the heavens and the earth [Isa 14.16-18]. The Mystery of Iniquity encompasses Lucifer’s plans for the overthrow of divine authority and the establishment of the Luciferian Kingdom known in some circles as the New World Order. On the earth, since the first advent of Christ, it is synonymous with the spirit of Antichrist [2 Thessalonians 2.3-4 c.f. 1 John 2.22 c.f. 4.3], and seeks to undermine the ethical, social, political, and theological basis of society by means of a false theology based upon the central claim that Jesus is not God.
Mystery Babylon is the earthly manifestation of the Mystery of Iniquity since the period following the Flood. Mystery Babylon is the ecclesiastical and philosophical leadership structure by which Satan rules this world. Through it is achieved the evolution of the worlds’ institutions: politics, economics, social engineering and religion, into a society suitable for the emergence of the Antichrist into world prominence. Mystery Babylon as a system, is the thinking of Satan applied to human organization.
Some Facts About Mystery Babylon
She is worldwide in her operations and influence: Revelation 17.1,2,15; 18:3, 9,11,23
She is a religious force, the mother or source of false religion: Revelation 17.6; 18:20, 24; 19.2
She influences world politics: Revelation 17.2, 15; 18.3, 9
She is critical to international finance: Revelation 17:1-2, 15; 18: 3, 9, 11-19
She is a key actor in genocides, especially of believers in Christ Revelation 17.6; 18:20, 24; 19.2
Four Aspects of Mystery Babylon
The system of Mystery Babylon has at least four discernible characteristics which appear regardless of whether we are observing its activities in a community, nation, or empire and irrespective of where it is found in history. While you examine these four traits, try to apply them to the movie industry, or to my favorite application: the Hip Hop music industry.
1. Wealth Transfer: The transfer of wealth from regular people to the leadership structure of Mystery Babylon
2. Corruption of Values and Institutions: The weakening of human freedom, marriage, family, government and the true church
3. Political End Game: Creating the political environment for the emergence of Antichrist
4. Introduction of Luciferian Religion: Promote the religion of Lucifer and the doctrine that Jesus is not God [blasphemy].
The commercial mechanisms of Mystery Babylon are called “sorceries” in the bible because they do not merely pertain to marketing, but to the indoctrination of a philosophy that promotes demonism and opposition to the rule of God. You cannot buy a product today [and especially any entertainment product] without in some way ratifying a God dishonoring system and enriching those who believe in that system. This situation will be formalized with the “Mark” [Revelation 13.16-17] which make a religious commitment to Lucifer a requirement for participation in society [e.g., buying and selling].
These concepts of Mystery Babylon may be found in operation in every age after the Flood and throughout every society. They work because, according to the scriptures, since the fall of mankind, the operational administrator of this world has been Lucifer, who unlike Mystery Babylon, is not a illustrative construct, but a living person [Matthew 4.1-11].
What is worship to the Luciferian is, or should be, blasphemy to the Church.
