2 Thessalonians 2:11–12 (KJV 1900)
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: 12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
A role reversal has occurred in American Christianity. The secular world is taking over the nomenclature and practices of Christians and Christendom has a death grip upon this world and its perishing institutions. There is a change in the spiritual climate that has produced a national lukewarmness that could be called the New Christianity.
There is the man on the internet who is married to another man, yet is telling of God speaking to him through the Old Testament and using him to be a blessing to the needy. There is the national talk show host who reads her daily bible devotional, after interviewing a woman about latest trends in adult strip clubs. There are the football players who kneel in prayer before the game and drop “f-bombs” after a big win. Of course there is the general appropriation of Word of Faith language by the unsaved world. Everyone is adopting positive confession concepts and “speaking things into existence,” if only in jest.
It appears that many in society at large love God, some even claim to love Jesus, but none love the bible, at least not when it is rightly divided. This is one half of the New Christianity.
Christendom, that mass of believers and unbelievers who identify with the church, have transferred their hope from the coming Lord to the coming election. They are forcing pieces of the bible into their pre-formed worldviews, which justify racism and global oppression by throwing the “holy water” of anti-abortion upon them. In the New Christianity, these people adore the world and are planning to stay here forever, busily working to create a replica of the antebellum era, superimposed upon a new religious state where the New Christianity will become law. Others, fleeing from the conservative error, have sacrificed holiness and aligned themselves with immorality in their search for true justice. They have condemned themselves by that which they have condoned.
The New Christianity is not biblical Christianity. It is a lowest common denominator form of American idolatry which has been anticipated by the scriptures as the spiritual attitude which will precede the falling away or apostasy from true Christianity. The New Christianity could have been delayed by conscientious pastors, but they are often the ringleaders and enablers of the apostasy, each for their own reasons.
Both parts of the New Christianity reject the sound interpretation of the scriptures, but it is this very scripture, when believed and followed, that is the paradigm-breaking cipher that resolves our problems of injustice and unrighteousness. It is the adherence of the true church to the Word of God that restrains the immoral propensities of this world and that protects the community from the oppressions of their fellow man.
Who is the true church? The bible identifies the authentic children of God:

10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
